The library of the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences was established in 1950 and is a professional library with significant influence in the biological community. It houses 100,000 volumes of books and periodicals, including 40,000 books; 330 kinds of periodicals; and 1,492 volumes of bound ancient books. In the fields of animal taxonomy, ecology and related disciplines (birds, mammals, fish, insects), it has relatively systematic literature and reference materials, making it a library with relatively complete collection of biological books and periodicals in China. The library has established document exchange relations with over 20 countries and receives dozens of books and periodicals through exchange channels every year. It has also established the library's book list retrieval system, electronic journal list, and purchased and activated the electronic academic literature databases of renowned international publishers such as Elsevier, Springer and Wiley.
