IOZ enjoys a long-standing and productive international cooperation with relative research institutions around the world, such as collaborations with USA, the European Union, Canada, Australia, Russia, Japan, Korean, and etc.

In recent years, IOZ hosted many important international conferences, including International Congress of Zoology, Meeting on the China-Mongolia-Russia Trans-Border Wilife Conservation, the 1st World Conference on Sheep, International Congress of Entomology, ISCF Clinical Grade Stem Cell Banking Meeting, and 23rd International Congress on Conservation Biology, promoting communication and collaboration with scientists around the world.

There are five societies and organizations affiliated to IOZ, including Zoological Society of China, Entomological Society of China, International Society of Zoological Sciences, Editorial Committee of Fauna Sinica, and Chinese Endangered Species Scientific Commission, PRC. IOZ and these societies jointly publish seven academic periodicals. Insect Science, Integrative Zoology, and Current Zoology are SCI indexed journals. Acta Entomologica Sinica, Acta Zoologica Sinica, Acta Zootaxonomica Sinica, and Chinese Journal of Applied Entomology are domestic authoritative journals.
