Three applications to National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars from our institute have succeeded the NSFC review and now open to public assessment, indicating the research competence of our institute. There were totally 160 candidates passed the review this year, among which 45 are from life sciences. In recent years, the number of applications to this fund has highly increased, with a final approval rate of only 14.9% in 2004.
