Dr. Cunming Duan (段存明) is Professor of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (MCDB) at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. He earned his B.S. at Ocean University of China and Ph.D from the University of Tokyo. He was appointed to the University of Michigan faculty in 1996 and is currently a tenured full professor. Dr. Duan’s expertise is in roles of growth factors in regulating cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis in early development; signal transduction mechanisms of growth factor actions; transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression; roles of growth factors and hormones in modulating growth, development, and longevity in response to hypoxia and nutrient restriction. He has published over eighty scientific articles on these topics.
