Key Labs

State Key Laboratory of Organ Regeneration and Reconstruction

The State Key Laboratory of Organ Regeneration and Reconstruction was founded in January 2025 under the auspices of the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The laboratory is at the forefront of scientific discovery, aiming to bridge the gap between basic biological research and clinical application to pioneer the future of regenerative medicine.

Research Directions

  1. Intelligent Decoding and Design of Organs
  2. Biotechnology-Engineering Integrated Manufacturing
  3. Organ Regeneration and Clinical Application

Research Talent
The laboratory is comprised of a research team with 136 staff members. This includes a core of 35 Principal Investigators, supported by 43 associate and assistant researchers. The research environment is further enriched by approximately 60 postdoctoral scholars and a body of over 550 graduate students, ensuring a dynamic pipeline of talent.

Research Funding
The laboratory currently manages a portfolio of approximately 200 major research projects, supported by competitive grants from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. This represents an average annual research funding of approximately RMB 80 million.

Research Impact
From 2021 to 2024, as a leader in scientific output, the laboratory published over 280 high-impact papers (IF>10), including 12 in the premier journals CellNature, and Science. The laboratory obtained 89 authorized patents, including 9 international patents. Multiple research achievements have been successfully translated into industrial applications, with a cumulative contract amount exceeding RMB 500 million. Additionally, 5 research achievements were selected as annual "Top Ten Advances in Life Sciences" or "Top Ten Advances in Chinese Science."
