Hu Baoyang, Ph.D., Professor, is currently the Executive Director of the Beijing Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, the Executive Vice President of the Medical School of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He got Ph. D. degree in Fudan University in 2004. In 2005, Dr. Hu joined Dr. Su-Chun Zhang's stem cell research lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison working on neural differentiation. He joined the Institute of Zoology in 2011. Dr Hu Engaged primarily in stem cell and regenerative medicine research, and has a series of important achievements in research on human brain development and degenerative diseases. Dr. Hu and his team revealed the role and mechanism of lncRNA-derived human-specific new gene products in cerebral cortex expansion and folding(Nature Ecology & Evolution,2023); elucidate the mechanism of TMEM119 in maintaining microglial homeostasis and regulating the progression of Alzheimer's disease(Immunity, 2025); first to differentiate human iPS cells into neural cells(PNAS, 2010); developed stem cell-based regenerative medicine products and pioneered clinical research for indications such as Parkinson's disease. |
