Yan-Ling Wang, Ph.D., professor, principal investigator, group leader of reproductive pathology group, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Science and Technology of China in 1993 and earned her Ph.D. in Physiology from the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 1998 under the mentorship of Professor Lin-Zhi Zhuang. She was promoted to professor in 2004. Dr. Wang has been presiding over the "National Outstanding Youth Science Fund", National Key Research and Development Program of China, Major Research Project and Key Research Project of National Natural Science Foundation of China, among others. Dr. Wang's laboratory has predominantly concentrated on elucidating the mechanisms underlying placental development and the pathogenesis of reproductive-related diseases. Significant progress has been achieved in comprehending the dynamics of placental nutrient transport and metabolic patterns, which are pivotal in determining cell fate. Additionally, the regulatory mechanisms of uterine spiral artery remodeling and the cellular and molecular regulation of maternal-fetal interface immune adaptation have been elucidated. The roles of multicellular interactions at the maternal-fetal interface in the onset and progression of conditions such as preeclampsia, recurrent miscarriage, and fetal growth restriction have been clarified. Over one hundred peer-reviewed papers have been published in journals including Cell Stem Cell, Natl Sci Rev, and PNAS. Dr. Wang received numerous honors, include the " National Science and Technology Progress Award" second prize, the “National Maternal and Child Health Science and Technology Award” second prize, the "Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award", and the "Chinese Academy of Sciences Zhu Li yuehua Outstanding Teacher Award". Dr. Wang is currently mentoring 12 graduate students, comprising 10 PhD candidates and 2 master's students. |
Professional Activities: |
Dr. Wang holds the position of Chinese Regional Editor-in-Chief for the Placenta journal, serves as an editorial board member for the Biol Reprod journal, and represents China on the executive committee of the international pregnancy joint organization, CoLab. She is the Vice-Chairperson of the Reproductive Immunology Branch of the Chinese Immunology Society. She serves as a standing committee member for both the Reproductive Biology Branch of the Chinese Zoological Society and the Reproductive Medicine Branch of the Beijing Medical Association. She is a director of the Reproductive Science Specialty Committee of the Chinese Physiological Society. |
