I received my Ph.D. degree in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Missouri-Columbia (UMC) in 2000. I was also enrolled as a M.S. degree student in the Department of Computer Science and Technology of UMC during my Ph.D. study. I was working as a senior bioinformatics scientist in Lexicon Genetics & Pharmaceuticals for 3 years. In 2004, I was recruited by the State Key Laboratory of Reproductive Biology (SKLRB), Institute of Zoology (IOZ), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)”. Currently, my major research interest is to study the mechanisms of spermatogenesis by using methods of bioinformatics, molecular biology and stem cell biology. Educations: 1993 - 2000: Ph.D. in Biochemistry, UMC Studying the molecular mechanism of interferon-tau as a reproduction hormone in ruminant animals: Cloning and characterization of the receptor for interferon-tau 1990 - 1993: MS in Reproduction Physiology, IOZ, CAS Studying the mechanism of human embryo implantation: mRNA expressions of Inhibin/Activin subunits in human trophoblasts 1986 - 1990: BS in Genetics and Genetic Engineering, Fudan University, China Research Experience: December, 2003 - : Professor, PI, SKLRB, IOZ, CAS Researches in spermatogenesis and spermatogonial stem cells September, 2000 – January, 2003: Senior bioinformatics scientist, Lexicon Genetics & Pharmaceuticals, Inc Providing bioinformatics support to Lexicon whose mission is “To discover breakthrough treatments for human disease”. Teaching: Course 1: I, as the organizer and chief lecturer, have been lecturing annually in “Bioinformatics Applications” since 2011. This course won the “Excellent Course” award multiple times, and I won the “Zhu Li Yue Hua Excellent Teacher” award in 2019. Course 2: I, as one of lecturers of the course “Reproductive Biology”, have been lecturing “Germ cell development and spermatogenesis” annually since 2004. Other Courses: I have also been invited to give lectures in graduate courses in universities including Peking Union Medical College, Beijing University. |
