Research in this theme aims to focus on ecological, physiological, behavior, genomic, evolutionary and applied aspects of agricultural pest insects and rodents of regional importance, including genetic basis of behavior shift, phase changes, and host and food selection, population genetic structure and pest migration, ecological adaptation, impact on pest outbreaks of global change, ecological effects of GMO, invasive ecology, insecticide resistance, and sustainable integrated management of pest populations. The research emphasizes strong interdisciplinary crossing-studies, and is dedicated to promote a better theoretical understanding and more effective management of major agricultural pests through integrated approaches, and thus sustainable development of agriculture and food safety in China.
